Friday News. The difficulties of living in a foreign country. And the difficulties of Google translation.

These are the two topics of my Friday news.
We have been living in Cyprus for 3 years now. We cannot complain that everyone here speaks Greek. In addition to English, the language of our enemies is also in common use. But sometimes it all confuses us.

In Italy, preparations are in full swing for the huge exhibition Picta-25, thanks to my Online Gallery Binovska, our Ukrainian artists will participate in it. Initially, I decided to go there and take my works. But plans changed and I decided to send the works by mail.
And here the second part of the story begins. In the conditions that I translated from Italian, it was stated that the works should be on site no later than February 20. So my works stood for a long time waiting for their time. In addition, as I understood from the translation, they needed to be delivered directly to the site. (This means courier delivery.) Radu and I went on reconnaissance. The first thing we did was go to Fedex. They said that they only ship for legal entities. They advised us to contact UPS. We found an office and they gave us an estimate for the shipment, which would have cost us 270 Euros. We decided to try our luck with regular mail. We did it this week. It all confused me a lot, I couldn’t imagine how I would communicate with the post office workers. At first, we had to fill out a declaration directly on the post office website. And then everything went very easily. The post office speaks English, the cost was 24 Euros, and they promised delivery in 5-7 days!

Це дві теми моїх новин п’ятниці.
Ми мешкаємо на Кіпрі вже 3 рік. Скаржитися але те, що тут усі говорять грецькою мовою, нам не доводиться. В побуті крім англійської, так само і мова наших ворогів. Але іноді це все бентежить.
В Італії повною мірою йде підготовка до величезної виставки Пікта-25, завдяки моїй Онлайн Галереї Біновська, в ній братимуть участь наші українські художники. Спочатку я вирішила поїхати туди та відвезти свої роботи. Але плани змінилися, і я вирішила надіслати роботи поштою.
І тут розпочинається друга частина історії. В умовах, які я перекладала з італійської, було вказано, що роботи повинні бути на місці не пізніше 20 лютого. Тож мої роботи довго стояли чекаючи свого часу. Окрім цього треба було, як я зрозуміла з першодавця, щоб їх доставили прямо на місце. (Це означає кур’єрська доставка.) Ми з Радою вирушили на розвідку. Насамперед пішли в компанію Федекс. Там сказали, що вони роблять відправлення лише для юридичних компаній. Дали пораду звернутися до ЮПС. Знайшли офіс і там нам зробили оцінку відправки, яка б обійшлася нам у 270 Євро. Ми вирішили спробувати щастя у звичайній пошті. Цього тижня ми це зробили. Мене це все дуже бентежило, мені важко було собі уявити як я спілкуватимуся з працівниками пошти. Спершу нам довелося заповнити декларацію прямо на сайті пошти. А потім все пройшло дуже просто. Поштою розмовляють англійською, вартість склала 24 Євро, а доставити пообіцяли за 5-7 днів!
