"Silly MILLENNIUM”

Image
"Silly MILLENNIUM” The most interesting thing is that this story came on April 1! Events coincide! In Odessa, it is customary to widely celebrate the April 1 st, it is called the Day of Fools. This year there will be no holiday due to quarantine. At that time, we decided to keep up with existing traditions and had a real holiday on this occasion. Even then, we all felt that something strange was happening. The time was very vague. And so the name came about - "Silly Millennium." If you look back today, we can say that our action has become a harbinger of everything that happened. But then we tried to make fun of the problems with the help of humor. Participants in our action were masters of caricature- Oleg Dergachev from Lviv, Yuri Kosobukin from Kiev, stunning ceramic artist Nelli Yusupova from Kiev and one of the most famous artists in the world - the unique Walker Kun (Germany) The main organizer was a wonderful Lviv artist Oleg Dergachev, at that time

Beauty.

Beauty. “People talk about beauty carelessly, they use this word so carelessly that it loses its strength and the object that it should comprehend, sharing its name with a thousand vulgar concepts, is deprived of its greatness. With the word "beautiful" people mean a dress, a dog, a sermon, and when they find themselves face to face with the Beautiful, they do not know how to recognize it. They try to cover their worthless thoughts with false pathos, and this dulls their susceptibility. Like a charlatan falsifying the uplift of the spirit that he once felt in himself, they abuse their spiritual powers and lose them. Each of us is alone in this world. Each is enclosed in a copper tower and can communicate with his brothers only through signs. But the signs are not the same for everyone, and therefore their meaning is dark and incorrect. We are desperately striving to share with other treasures of our heart, but we don’t know how to accept them, and therefore we l

Changes in Odessa Port.

Changes in Odesa Port. In 2002, changes began to come to the Odesa port. The past five years as a gallery of the Odesa port have been magnificent. It seems to me that for the entire port and for the passenger terminal and the gallery, it was the time of the Renaissance. A new yacht club, a gallery, regattas attracting many guests, calls of tourist ships, and a stylish hotel - this complex was obviously attractive to thousands of tourists and visitors to the cit y.  But all this prevented someone from living, and the so-called “toad” greed - envy began to grow in size and finally burst.  Odesa port is a state-owned enterprise, which was held on the shoulders of the legendary chief, Nikolai Pavlyuk. But for a long time he could not sit in his place, new political forces came. Nikolai Panteleimonovich became a deputy of the Ukrainian Parlament and despite the fact that his reception was even closer to the gallery, he began to spend a lot of time in Kyiv. And I had to est

Maritime Art Gallery. 2002 catalog. The trip went quickly and I returned to Odessa, to my family and work.  The gallery continued its work and I bring to your attention a slide show of the gallery catalog for 2002. It is noteworthy that on the cover there is a photograph of the new head of the port, Yuri Yegorov, who came to the port in 2003, replacing Nikolai Pavlyuk, who became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. About Egorov, I have something to tell you, but today is a catalog.

Customs in Kiev

Image
Customs in Kiev During our stay in America, we were warned that an emotional surprise called cultural shock may await us upon our return. We were prepared. As for me this shock came right at the Kiev airport. To begin with I must tell you that my importrant and purchase during the trip was the cheapest digital camera. I had a film camera with me, but for successful work in the gallery I really needed a camera that would allow me to easily transfer pictures to a computer. And when I was in San Francisco, I asked Yura, Ira’s husband, to help me with the acquisition. So now I had two cameras, one old and the other new. No one could have imagined that I would have problems with this. The flight turned out to be very difficult - my legs got terribly swollen, they became like elephant legs and the blood pulsed in them, it was very painful. After passing through passport control, customs officers began to search for us, who discovered a new camera in me. At that time, it was po

Nina Shvachka. Two more American stories.

Nina Shvachka. Two more American stories. In our group of cultural figures who were lucky to travel to the USA, there was a very pretty woman Nina Shvachka from Belgorod-Dniestrovsky. She was the leader of the children's amateur art collective. Nina was very beautiful, she sang and danced remarkably. Once In Los Angeles, she made a real show, right in the crowd of Americans who went out for a snack in the park during lunch. There, a meeting was also organized for us. Nina staged a real performance, hoping to find sponsors for her team's tour. I don’t know if she succeeded or not. But we can say that we killed one of her dreams. The fact is that Nina dreamed of staying in the USA. She had many acquaintances of the men whom she had been dating and she was ready to build her fate with one of them. It was a very risky move. Nina was not married and in Ukraine, she still had a daughter, a teenager. But I am sure that her intentions were primarily related to the search fo

West Hollywood and Vadim Greenberg. This is a very funny story!

West Hollywood and Vadim Greenberg. This is a very funny story! One day in Los Angeles we were taken on an excursion to the most famous place in the world, Hollywood Avenue. We saw the stars and the first Chinese cinema, saw a huge bed, standing in the open air against the backdrop of the hills on which the proud name Hollywood flaunts. And then there was a journey into the past. Our curators decided that it would be very interesting for us to meet with the artist, the former Ode ssa citizen Vadim Greenberg, who sold in the area of West Hollywood. This tour is worth seeing. Imagine the middle of a working day in a country where work for all is of the utmost importance - no work, no life. The park, very reminiscent of our Odessa City Garden, if not for palm trees that go high in the sky with their crowns, alleys, tables, and tables - Russian-speaking men who play cards or chess. Not retirees. At the sight of us, they begin to scream loudly - "Join us, girls!"
