While preparing a post for you about the past week, I wanted to describe the events. But excuse me, it’s so hot that I can’t stand it. So I’m publishing pre-prepared material.

I have already introduced you to the plants of our garden, and today I will introduce you to another one, popularly called the Elephant’s Foot.
This year the plant bloomed again and very actively – clearly wanting to show us in all its glory!
One thing I can add is that elephant foot flowers have an incredible smell, and the bees love the flowers and even late in the evenings they hover around and collect nectar.

Beaucarnea recurvata, elephant’s foot or ponytail palm, is a species of flowering plant in the Asparagus family. This species was native to many states of eastern Mexico, but its distribution is now limited to the state of Veracruz. Despite its common name, it is not closely related to true palms (Arecaceae). It has become popular in Europe and throughout the world as an ornamental plant. A 350-year-old Bocarneas is registered in Mexico.

It is an evergreen perennial growing to 15 ft 6 in (4.72 m), with a noticeably expanded caudex for water storage. The single, palm-like stem produces terminal tufts of strap-like, curved, leathery leaves, sometimes tipped in hairlocks, and with occasional panicles of small white flowers when the plant is over 10 years old.
The single trunk, moderately swollen at the base, above it is slender and only slightly branched. The almost spherical caudex in the juvenile stage later reaches a length of 4 to 6 meters and reaches a diameter at the base of up to 50 centimeters or more. The bark is smooth. Green linear, slightly rejuvenated and bent leaves are thin, flat or slightly ribbed. They range from 90 to 180 inches in length and 15 to 20 millimeters in width.

Цього року рослина зацвіла знову і причому дуже активно-явно бажаючи нам показати себе у всій красі!
Одне можу додати, квіти слонячіх ніг мають неймовірний запах, і ці квіти полюбили бджоли і навіть пізно у вечорі вони в’ються навколо і збирають нектар.

Beaucarnea recurvata, слонова нога або пальма з хвостиком – вид квіткової рослини сімейства Спаржеві. Цей вид виростав у багатьох штатах східної Мексики, але зараз його поширення обмежено штатом Веракрус. Незважаючи на свою загальну назву, він не має близької спорідненості зі справжніми пальмами (Arecaceae). Він став популярним у Європі та в усьому світі як декоративна рослина.
