Flight to Melbourne.June 9, 2016 Flight to Australia.
In the morning I woke up without suspecting anything and decided to put a new post on FB, I wanted to write that I was turning into a migratory bird and starting my long flight.
My daughter Sylvia called and said in an alarming voice: "Terrorist attack in Istanbul, many victims, and your flight to Abu Dhabi canceled"
The attack took place on the night of June 29th. After Sylvia's call, we turned on the TV and watched the details of this terrible crime.
I didn’t have the feeling that I needed to stop; the day before, such a lot of work was done to obtain a visa and buy tickets that it didn’t occur to me to postpone the trip. The plane took off with a 2-hour delay and I flew to Istanbul.
Ataturk Airport was as usual full of people and nothing reminded me of what had happened. After feeling like you are a soccer ball and you are being chased from rack to rack, I had to buy a new ticket for the Istanbul-Abu Dhabi flight (my flight was canceled) and flew to the Emirates at 1830.
The plane landed in Abu Dhabi around 11 pm, Etihad Airlines changed my ticket for the morning without providing a hotel.
The night at the airport was difficult, despite the fact that there was a hall supposedly intended for relaxation.
The hall was located next to one of the Duty-Free shops and early in the morning an employee came there and began to put things in order noisily shifting goods from shelf to shelf. He did it defiantly loudly, without looking and not realizing that there were people nearby who needed rest.
I, emerging from under the pareo, under which I hid my head so that the light would not hit my face, looked sternly at the worker. It was not right, he deliberately began to make an even louder noise, apparently from the annoyance that he had to go to work so early. It's funny, but often, people like it, it's unpleasant for others.
It was already difficult to fall asleep, and there was a man nearby, suffering for the same reason, and we had nothing left to do but get to know each other. It turned out to be a Frenchman named Alexander, his profession is chocolate, most likely he does not make chocolate himself, but is looking for the best cocoa beans.
Starting from 3 o'clock in the morning, until the very morning, we talked with him and it was very interesting. Thanks to the noisy airport worker, he gave us an interesting acquaintance, and Alexander and I became best friends on FB!
