My home, my Odesa, my model Roxanne.

Image
Lord, how I miss my home and my work! I find the photos and cry. I want to go home unbearably, although I understand in my mind that I am terrified. I live here, living day after day with prayers for my country and my hometown. My whole world, all my friends have changed, but man is an adaptable creature and the only thing that remains for me personally are memories. So I look at my photos and share them with you!

Friday news from Limassol. July 2024.

Image
Even though this week we had a holiday, our youngest in the family, Georgiy, turned 9 years old and we celebrated this. And all my thoughts and feelings were in our long-suffering Ukraine. On July 8, the nonhumans gave the order for another shelling of the Ukrainian people. I can’t wrap my head around the concept that behind every rocket launch there is a living creature and it presses the button. The Ahmadit Children’s Clinic, where seriously ill children are treated, was destroyed in an instant. There are no words, only the horror that is stuck in the heart. And yesterday I came across a text on the Internet that I want to keep as a keepsake. Yesterday on the Internet walked the expression that “all Russian culture is not worth one tear of the kherson dog”. I don’t know who said it first, but thesis is beautiful.  Have you ever noticed that in the world there is only one “great culture” that has called itself and continues? All the cultures of civilization with giant histories th...

Valentine’s Day. February, 2021

Image
Even though such a fictitious holiday as Valentine’s Day seems strange to me, in any case, the opportunity to feel again and again signs of love and respect in the form of a bouquet of flowers from my beloved husband cannot leave me indifferent! And white roses in February are a real delight, and also a pleasure from their freshness and aroma and the thought of creating a new work!!! Why not?

New painting “Snowdrops” February 2021

Image
The new painting is ready! “Snowdrop” oil on canvas, 100x80cm, 2021 “A person cannot live in concrete boxes, his thoughts and desires become ghostly paper birds, and a gentle soul has to break through the asphalt towards the sun’s rays like tender snowdrops.” I would like to thank the wonderful Ukrainian designer @Yanis Stepanenko from the bottom of my heart for the inspiration presented to me!

Odesa. Sanatorium Moldova. Winter 2021

Image
How nice it is when you live in such a climatic zone where the seasons are clearly defined. You begin to appreciate this especially only after you live in a place where all these boundaries are erased, where there is only a conditional distribution over time. Ukraine is so well located that we have everything here! There is summer, although it always seems to us that it is short and we will not have time to enjoy it. There is a stunning one, filled with the aromas of fallen leaves and the smell of chrysanthemums. There is spring, which we enjoy as the first days of our lives, and winter, making children out of us. Winter is so short that the first snow that falls in Odessa is considered a real holiday. Unfortunately, the photographs I took in the Moldova sanatorium have not survived, only a few, but please look how beautiful it is there. Sanatoriy Moldova. Zima 2021 Санаторій Молдова. Зима 2021 Як же добре, коли живеш у такій кліматичній зоні, де чітко окреслені сезони. Це особливо поч...

January 2021 in Cape Town. Mount Nelson High Tea.

Image
Mount Nelson Hotel is the very first hotel built in Cape Town. And to my great regret, I must admit that I never attended the centuries-old tradition of 5 o’clock tea, but my girls, Rada and Charlotte, attend this ceremony very often and I am very happy for them. One of the most iconic sights in Cape Town, there’s endless history behind Mount Nelson’s famed pink walls. 1743–1892 1743: The land upon which the hotel now stands was granted to Baron Pieter van Rheede van Oudtshoorn. Baron Pieter returned to Holland and was appointed the new governor of the Cape. He died en route back to Cape Town. His land was subdivided and sold, and his tombstone can now be seen on the outer wall of Cape Town’s Groote Kerk. 1806: The property was let to an auctioneer, Mr William Maude. On 3 August 1806 the property was advertised in The South African Gazette as ‘Mount Nelson’, taking inspiration from Cape Town’s Table Mountain and the ubiquitous Lord Nelson. Lord Horatio Nelson had visited the Cape at ag...

Unexpected surprise from a friend on FB. July, 2024

Image
In my real life in immigration in Cyprus, there was very little communication with people left. For two years I did not make any friends or acquaintances. The main communication takes place only on social networks. And a few days ago, I saw an unexpected post on Facebook from my friend Ana Moreira. I enjoy following her work and exchanging likes with her, I don’t know what she looks like or where she is from, but her post made my day, for which I am truly grateful! “This month, I’m thrilled to celebrate an extraordinary friend   Tatyana Binovska Art   whose life and work are a testament to the transformative power of art. Originally from Bucha, Ukraine, she has dedicated her life to pursuing artistic excellence and cultural enrichment. After graduating from Odesa Art College, she delved into monumental and design works for Soviet institutions, mastering ceramic techniques, tapestry, painting, and cold encaustic techniques. In 2009, her journey took her to South Africa, where he...
