2000 "Tatyana's Day" Tatyana Binovska solo exhibition in Maritime Art Gallery, Odessa
Tatyana's Day
How wonderful it is to have such a magnificent platform for exhibitions, which was the Maritime Art Gallery. In the winter, we did not have as many visitors as we would like. Therefore, I used the quiet time presenting the exposition of my new works. Moreover, there was a special day for this - January 25th.
In the countries of the former Soviet Union, this day is called Tatyanin. I will explain why.
Tatiana (Latin Tatiana, Greek .ατιανὴ; in modern Russian - Tatiana) is an early Christian martyr, venerated by the Orthodox and Catholic churches. In Russia, it is considered the patroness of Moscow State University and students.
This is an article by Natalia Gritsenko:
Tatyana Binovskaya timed her personal exhibition to Tatyana's commemoration of the martyr Tatyana. The election of the date was a logical continuation of the Christmas exposition of ancient and modern icons in the Maritime Gallery, as well as the first exhibition opened in the same hall in 2000.
Thus, the artist’s name day opened the opportunity for her friends and guests of the gallery to get acquainted with Binovskaya’s many years of creative work and doubled her personal holiday.
Such a decision brought a new note to the plans of the Maritime Gallery - close attention to female inspiration.
The personal exhibition of Tatyana Binovskaya opened up a whole series of acquaintances with the remarkable works of our contemporaries. And in this one can feel the influence of the coming era.
After all, Nostradamus also prophesied about the strengthening of female influence in the 21st century in all areas of intellectual manifestations.
Ancient numerologists have always associated the number "2" with the natural viviparous Principle, with the female component of the Fundamentals of the Universe.
Tatyana Binovskaya reminded the gallery guests of the new trends in the romantic coloring of her paintings, the richness of the palette and the plastic lines. Her images are distinct and ghostly at the same time.
The uniqueness of the outlines in the artist's works is mixed with the duality of meaning and multifaceted impact. The power of color confirms the tangibility and activity of thought forms, preserved in the paint layer. Most of the silhouettes outlined within the boundaries of the work are logically extended outward, thereby taking the action of the design into the hall, into free space.
The artist is pleased to develop the theme of female attractiveness in a dramatic halo. At the same time, a hidden glow is felt, given by coloristic contrasts and obvious understatement. The audience involuntarily becomes a participant in a mini-performance surrounded by bright, alluring scenery. And as an eloquent symbol of the individual manifestations of a strong nature, one can name the persistent movement inside the thick cold blue — be it the heated aspiration of the horse's body or the progressive approach of the long-awaited sailing ship.
With all the romanticism of the images, Binovskaya is hardly a transcendental dreamer. It exists in a dynamic layer of strong emotions, keenly feeling the reversal of the spring of human intentions and wrapping spiritual movements in visible form. She is close to the most hidden phenomena of the natural laws of the material world, and in the scale of life for her picturesque polyphony, she intuitively selects the deepest, penetrating tones. We can say that women's works in this case are expressed with non-feminine power and persuasiveness.
It is impossible to remain silent about the fact that the work of Tatyana, who devoted most of her time and energy to gallery work, is a separate outlet, freed from focusing on consumer demand. Therefore, her canvases are intently sincere and subordinate exclusively to the internal movements of creative nature. In our busy days, a rare artist can afford such a luxury, and therefore the personal exhibition of Tatyana Binovskaya has become a very remarkable phenomenon against the general background of the cultural life of Odessa.
